It is a great honor for me to head the Medical Faculty of the Tbilisi Medical Academy (Academy) named after Petre Shotadze.

Over the 30 years of its history, the Academy has established itself as a university focused on continuous development and high quality medical education, with a steadily growing authority and a special institutional culture.

The Medical Doctor is among the top most demanded professions, the number of applicants to enter the academy is steadily growing from year to year, although we do not change the principle of accepting a limited contingent to ensure the best quality of education.

The mission of the Academy is to train professionals at the national and international level, at the same time it is our public responsibility. We understand the challenges of medical education and put all our efforts and resources into introducing innovative technologies and teaching and learning methods, join the best world experience and at the same time are open to share our achievements.

With an integrated student- and patient-centered curriculum, the Academy ensures that students develop independent learning, critical thinking, decision-making, time management, teamwork, and research skills. About Us

1992: One of the oldest Georgian universities established by Petre Shotadze, who was a notable Georgian physician, and pediatric surgeon.

2000: TMA Georgia launched the first batch of 50 students in the MBBS program.

2001: First affiliation with Tbilisi Central Hospital for hands-on clinical training.

2002: Launched first postgraduate medical course.

2003: Established partnership with many international universities like Oxford & Cambridge.

2005: Introduced English-language MBBS for international students

2006: Established a centre for biomedical research and innovation.

2007: Introduced doctoral program in medicine for different specialisations.

2008: TMA Georgia Dental program commenced.

2010: TMA Georgia Master’s healthcare management started.

2011: A simulation centre was established at Tbilisi Medical Academy for offering practical training.

2012: Distance learning program introduced.

2015: Department of public health established for offering public health and healthcare management programs.

2017: Dual degrees in medicine and healthcare management started.
