The university was opened in 1932 and for more than 90 years has successfully trained doctors and scientists who save lives and
contribute to the development of medical science.

Today BSMU is the second medical university in Russia in terms of the number of students, one of the main centers of medical and
pharmaceutical science.

About Us

- 1932 – The Bashkir Medical Institute was established in Ufa to train qualified medical professionals for the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet
  Socialist Republic and neighboring regions.
- 1930s – The institute opened its first faculties and clinical departments, laying the foundation for medical education and healthcare
  training in the region.
- 1941–1945 – During World War II, the institute trained military doctors and provided medical assistance to wounded soldiers, playing
  an important role in wartime healthcare.
- 1950s–1970s – The institute expanded significantly with new academic departments, research laboratories, and affiliations with
  regional hospitals for clinical training.
- 1980s – Growth in scientific research and postgraduate medical education strengthened the institute’s reputation as a major
  medical education center in the region.
- 1995 – The institute received university status and was officially renamed Bashkir State Medical University, reflecting its
  broader academic and research capabilities.
- 2000s – The university introduced modern medical technologies, simulation training, and international academic collaborations.
2010s–Present – Bashkir State Medical University has grown into one of Russia’s leading medical universities, attracting international
students and contributing to advancements in medical science and healthcare education.
