About Us

1938: Inaugurated as Chechen-Ingush Teaching Institute and introduced 3 faculties: Philology, History, Physics and Mathematics.
1940: Expanded to 5 departments: Pedagogy and Psychology, Languages, Literature, Marxism-Leninism, General History. Moreover,
infrastructure was developed including Physics Laboratory, Library, classrooms, Sports Hall and Military Preparation unit.1956: more than 1000 students were studying on the campus
1958: 2 faculties launched - Faculty of Pedagogy and Primary Education Methodology
1960: Launch of Faculty of Natural Science and Geography.
1962: Launched Faculty of Foreign Languages.
1972: Earned recognition of university and renamed as Chechen-Ingush State University (ChISU).
1980s: Introduced specialisation in Microbiology, General Medicine, Physical Electronics, Law and Drama.
1994–2000: Destruction caused due to 2 Chechen military campaigns stopped the operations as the campus got destroyed.
2000: University resumed operations.
