About Us

- May 14, 1814 - The origin of Kazan State Medical University dates back to the first meeting of the Medical Department Council at
  Imperial Kazan University in Kazan.This meeting marked the beginning of formal medical education in the region.
- Late 19th - Early 20th Century – Kazan’s medical school produced many distinguished graduates, including more than 30 academicians
  and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Medical Sciences.
- November 5, 1930 - By Resolution No. 132 of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR, the medical faculty became an
  independent institution known as the Kazan State Medical Institute, with medical and sanitary-hygienic faculties.
- 1932 – The Faculty of Pediatrics was established to expand specialized medical training.
- 1956 – The Faculty of Dentistry was opened to train dental professionals.
- 1975 – The Faculty of Pharmacy was established to strengthen pharmaceutical education and research.
- 1991 – The Faculty of Social Work was introduced to address healthcare and social service needs.
- 1993 – The Faculty of Postgraduate Education was established to provide advanced training and specialization programs.
- April 24, 1994 – The Kazan State Medical Institute officially received university status and was renamed Kazan State Medical University.
- 1994 – The Faculty of Management and Higher Nursing Education was opened to support healthcare administration and nursing leadership.
- 2011 – New educational programs Medical Biophysics and Medical Biochemistry were launched.
- 2013 – The university admitted the first students to the Bachelor’s program in Nursing.
- 2014 – Two new faculties were created: 1). Faculty for Work with Foreign Students 2). Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences
- 2016 – The first UNESCO Chair in Bioethics in Russia was established at the university.
- July 6, 2011 onward – The university began leading the scientific and educational healthcare cluster of the Republic of Tatarstan,
  coordinating healthcare education and workforce planning.
- December 20, 2019 – The university received international accreditation according to the standards of the World Federation for
  Medical Education, confirming the global quality of its medical education programs.
- May 27, 2021 – A scientific consortium was formed between
  
  Kazan State Medical University
  
  Kazan Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology
  
  Republican Clinical Hospital to enhance medical research and innovation in the region.
Present Day – Kazan State Medical University operates under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, offering medical
education across multiple faculties and training students from 50+ countries while continuing its contributions to global medical
science and healthcare.
