• The efficient use of resources is the growing concern for all involved in food production, processing, distribution and retailing. The unique features of the raw materials of the food processing industries such as seasonality, perishability and variability in conjunction with sophistication required for processing to maintain high quality standards, necessitates special attention towards focused availability of qualified technical manpower, effective technologies and efficient machinery. The food industries in the country need modernization to face the challenges of the globalization. Considering the huge demand of the specialized human resource for the fast growing sectors of food industry, the Anand Agricultural University has established a full-fledged College of Food Processing Technology & Bio-Energy in the year of 2008-09 vide Government of Gujarat, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation Notification No - ACV- 122008 - 404 - C.2 dated 29-05-2008. It develops students with high-tech scientific knowledge and technical skills to handle various food resources from farm-to-factory-to-consumers. Efficient production, processing and packaging of various value added processed food products of very high quality are the main aspects being taught to the students. The college produces competent food technologists/engineers to establish, operate and manage various sectors of food processing industries.

• A Department of Agricultural Product Process Engineering (APPE) was established at the Anand campus of erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University during 1977-78 with the ICAR support for conducting research for reduction of post-harvest losses, development of low-cost processing machinery for local needs and for standardization of traditional processing technology for commercial-scale adoption. In the year of 2004-05, on the formation of Anand Agricultural University, the Department of APPE was upgraded as Faculty of Food Processing Technology & Bio Energy to serve as a post-graduate teaching and research unit and also to provide advisory services to the farmers and prospective entrepreneurs. Considering the huge demand of the specialized human resource for the fast-growing sectors of the food industry, the Anand Agricultural University has established a full-fledged College of Food Processing Technology & Bio-Energy in the year 2008-09 vide Government of Gujarat, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation Notification No - ACV- 122008 - 404 - C.2 dated 29-05-2008. College offers B. Tech, M. Tech & Ph. D. programs in the discipline of Food Processing Technology.

• College of Food Processing Technology & Bio Energy Placements 2026
  The college has established a training and placement cell, which takes care of all the training and placement-related activities. This cell facilitates aspiring students by providing in-plant training, industrial visit, and organizing placement. The professional competence gained at the college along with In-plant training (six months for B.Tech and two months for M.Tech students) at various reputed and well-known industries, which deals with manufacturing of various food products would definitely help these young technocrats to serve the expanding food industry of the world.
